There are many different types of renewable energy that can be used in place of energy created by burning fossil fuels. Renewable energy is generated from geothermal heat, sunlight, tides, rain and wind. All of which will naturally replenish. Currently only about 20% of the worlds energy consumption uses natural energy sources.

One of the cleanest and most efficient types of renewable energy is wind power which is slowly gaining in popularity and usage. Wind power is seen more in Europe though many countries are building off shore wind farms. Only a light breeze is needed to generate power and the energy conversion is one of the most efficient of all renewable sources.

Renewable energy is not only being used in large scale production but many can be scaled down to use for small grid or even residential use. The best example of this would be solar power. Solar power takes the suns light and converts it to electricity using solar cells. Solar can easily supplement current electricity usage and some business and people are finding that they no longer pay an electricity bill after conversion to solar power.

Hydropower has been used for years via construction and operation of dams. Most people are familiar with Hoover Dam which is the largest hydropower station in the world. As water flows from a high spot to a low spot it gives off energy which can be transformed into different types of power such as electrical. You also can use hydropower without dams in rivers and oceans as long as there is a current or tide.

Biofuels are mainly based on bioalcohol or bioethanol. This fuel is produced from fermenting soy or sugar that comes from plants. This pure form can then be used instead of gasoline. Biodiesel is an oil made from animal fat, vegetable oils and recycled grease. Although these fuels when burned produce emissions, they are much cleaner than the traditional petrol.

So now that you know, consider how you can make changes and choices to take advantage of these alternatives.

Wind Turbines

There are more than a few diverse types of wind power. At its most fundamental wind is in fact a form of sun power since wind is created from the heating of the terrain. Winds take place since the complete earth is not heated to the even temperature and land heats up a great deal faster then water. These warmth dissimilarities create wind. It is feasible to amass this wind energy and change it into some diverse forms of power and one of the most prevalent instruments for this these days is the wind turbine.

To gather wind power the wind is used to rotate blades within a windmill or turbine which subsequently converts this action into electrical power. This electrical power can be used for countless unusual activities include pumping water, powering your house and grinding grains and even stone.

A wind turbine is a tall tower with huge propeller blades. Dissimilar to a fan which is powered by electrical power the wind turbine rotates due to the wind and this rotation is what makes electrical energy. The blades turn, the shaft rotates and this shaft is connected to a generator that produces electrical energy. The bulk of wind generators make use of a horizontal axis despite the fact that there are vertical axis turbines that appear more like egg beaters than propellers. The largest wind turbines are horizontal axis turbines.

Wind power is desirable for the reason that it does not generate any pollution and is renewable. You can gather as much wind energy as you desire and there will still exist loads of wind in the future. It also does not generate any greenhouse gases or air toxins.

While wind fuel is extremely cost effective the first expenses are still very high, though you will soon make this currency up by all of your power savings. The majority of the charge is investing in the machinery. In spite of this there is incredibly modest repair necessary, no fuel and extremely small operating costs.

The main worries with wind generators are that the blades may create a lot of noise and aesthetically they are not very pretty to look at. For this reason, wind farms and even residential turbines are more often than not placed far away from view and out of earshot distance. The blades also have killed birds and bats that have flown into the blades. The majority of the newly created wind generators have managed to decrease these issues and it is possible to disguise the turbine using properly placed vegetation.

As long as there is even a small breeze one is able to obtain energy from the breeze. Though while there is no wind you could have difficulties. The only manner to save wind energy is if you have batteries connected to the system or are directly hooked into the utility grid. As this technology matures, there will be improved options for storage of the fuel, making wind energy available to more individuals.
