Launched in October of 2009, Bid For Materials, an online marketplace for construction supply providers to connect with contractors has registered over 750 suppliers in only 2 months.
Medford, NY December 28, 2009- In October 2009, Frederick Cann Jr., Tom Costarelli and Allen Weinstein launched Bid For Materials as a way to connect suppliers and contractors online, saving them time, and money. The website allows construction professionals to create profiles and gain access to a nationwide database of suppliers and contractors. Contractors have the opportunity to post lists of the supplies they need, and suppliers are able to send them private offers for what they are able to provide.
In only two short months, the site, located at www.bidformaterials.com has already registered over 750 suppliers, all looking to connect with construction contractors who want a better price for their building supplies. “Contractors get endless possibilities for better prices on materials, which results in better bids to customers, generating more work for their company. Suppliers get unlimited leads, which improves their sales as well. It’s a no brainer,” says Cann, who is both excited about and proud of the site’s rapid growth.
Since the launch, the company has added two new partners, John O’Hara and Mark Seiden, who is pleased to be able to help out fellow construction industry workers. “As a contractor, I immediately saw what BidForMaterials.com could do,” says Seiden. “Before, contractors were ‘locked-in’ with local suppliers. Now, our company helps to free them by opening up a much larger group of suppliers and for suppliers, it opens a new group of contractors.” The company will be exhibiting their site at the 2010 International Builders Show in Las Vegas, NV at the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 19th through January 22nd in booth #C3085.
Upon returning to their Medford, Long Island headquarters, Cann, Costarelli, Weinstein, O’Hara and Seiden hope to see continued growth from the site in the new year; and the recent upturn in the construction industry may just bring that hope to fruition.
